· Review this week’s Learning Resources, including the Medication Resources indicated for this week.
· Reflect on the psychopharmacologic treatments you might recommend for the assessment and treatment of patients requiring bipolar therapy.
THE ASSIGNMENT: 5 PAGES
For this assignment, you will write a 5–6-page paper on the topic of bipolar and bipolar and related disorders. You will create this guide as an assignment; therefore, a title page, introduction, conclusion, and reference page are required. You must include a minimum of 3 scholarly supporting resources outside of your course provided resources.
In your paper, you will choose one of the following diagnoses: Bipolar I, Bipolar II, Cyclothymic Disorder, Substance/Medication-Induced Bipolar and Related Disorder, Bipolar and Related Disorder Due to Another Medical Condition. Your paper will include discussion for your chosen diagnosis of bipolar and related disorder on the following:
· Prevalence and Neurobiology of your chosen disorder
· Discuss the differences between your chosen disorder and one other bipolar and related disorders in relation to the diagnostic criteria including presentation of symptoms according to DSM 5 TR criteria
· Discuss special populations and considerations (children, adolescents, pregnancy/post-partum, older adult, emergency care) for your chosen bipolar and related disorder; demonstrating critical thinking beyond basics of HIPPA and informed consent with discussion of at least one for EACH category: legal considerations, ethical considerations, cultural considerations, social determinants of health
· Discuss FDA and/or clinical practice guidelines approved pharmacological treatment options in relation to acute and mixed episodes vs maintenance pharmacological treatment for your chosen bipolar and related disorder
· Of the medication treatment options for your chosen disorder discuss side effects, FDA approvals and warnings. What is important to monitor in terms of labs, comorbid medical issues with why important for monitoring
· Provide 3 examples of how to write a proper prescription that you would provide to the patient or transmit to the pharmacy.
Expand on this explanation and provide an example that supports this explanation or respectfully challenging this explanation and providing an example.
Cost Benefit Analysis and its Impact on Efforts to Repeal ACA
The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010 was one of the policies in the Obama administration that caused diverse political reactions among the legislators and the public. This policy attempted to address the social injustices in America by prioritizing healthcare delivery, especially to low-income individuals (McIntyre & Song, 2019). Legislators had divided opinions on implementing these policies, as most of them conducted a cost-benefit analysis on its suitability in resolving healthcare issues. The first attempt to replace ACA was in 2017 with the passing of the American Health Care Act (AHCA). Implementing the latter policy would mean that approximately half of the beneficiaries of the ACA would lose access to affordable healthcare services (Issar & Dilling, 2021). The AHCA also proposed a tax credit based on age, an aspect that would increase the cost of healthcare services. Reelection affected the success and implementation of the AHCA to replace ACA. Most citizens supported the ACA, and legislators had no option but to keep it for their reelection, as legislators who opposed it risked losing their seats.
The voters’ views affect the legislators’ positions on the policy as the voters have the power to reelect them. Milstead and Short (2019) ascertain that voters influence important political aspects and determine their implementation or rejection. The best example of the influence of voters on policy issues was the replacement of ACA with AHCA. The voters supported ACA because it increased accessibility and availability of quality healthcare but repelled the AHCA due to the associated taxes and increased healthcare service costs (Wilensky, 2018; Issar & Dilling, 2021). The legislators in the House of Representatives and Senate need the votes to secure their positions, and disagreeing with the voters’ opinions would disadvantage their political careers (Congress.gov, n.d.; United States Senate, n.d.). Therefore, supporting the policy that the citizens support at higher levels increases the chances of legislators retaining their seats, even when they disagree with the policy’s mandates.

Case study:
A 49-year-old patient with rheumatoid arthritis comes into the clinic with a chief complaint of a fever. Patient’s current medications include atorvastatin 40 mg at night, methotrexate 10 mg po every Friday morning and prednisone 5 mg po qam. He states that he has had a fever up to 101 degrees F for about a week and admits to chills and sweats. He says he has had more fatigue than usual and reports some chest pain associated with coughing. He admits to having occasional episodes of hemoptysis. He works as a grain inspector at a large farm cooperative. After extensive work-up, the patient was diagnosed with Invasive aspergillosis.
Cancer treatment is very aggressive in nature. The treatment can lead to symptoms that range from uncomfortable to life-threatening. Complete the Cancer Symptoms Management Table

Do not forget to include complementary alternative therapy that may help in symptom management.
provide further suggestions on how their database search might be improved. Use 2 refrences
In pediatrics, clinicians are constantly searching for ways to refrain from or reduce the amount of pain we inflict on patients. That may involve less frequent lab work or making the choice to leave out a PIV that is lost. Though efforts are made to reduce pain in healthcare settings, we are not able to guarantee painless experiences. One of the most notable examples of unavoidable pain is childhood immunizations. Since I am a current pediatric nurse and in the primary care pediatric NP track, this is and will even more so, become a common practice issue for me. I wanted to figure out what methods of distraction work for infants when receiving immunizations. Using Richardson and colleagues’ concept (1995, as cited by Davies, 2011) I created the PICO question: In infants, do distraction techniques during immunization administration result in lower pain scores when compared to no intervention?
Using the CINAHL and MEDLINE combined database, I searched the terms “distraction + immunization”. 106 articles resulted. After adding the term “infant” and excluding duplicates, reviews, and studies that involve study groups other than infants,10 articles remained. I used search techniques recommended by Stillwell et al. (2010). I searched using relevant keywords from my PICO question and used infant as my final limit on the articles that resulted. To improve my database searches, I could ask a librarian for help, use subject terms, or increase the publication date range on my search (Melnyk & Fineout-Overholt, 2023, pp. 62–87).

Assignment: Hypothesize the Processes to Manage Quality Outcomes
This week, you learned about the process to manage quality outcomes, how policies create the course of action and the limitations to that action, and you were introduced to the gold standard for assessing quality, the Donabedian Quality Framework of Structure, Process, and Outcomes.
To complete your assignment this week, you will prepare a Proposal Paper that contains the action plans (also known as the measures of performance) needed to determine if a healthcare organization is meeting each principle of quality health care as described by the World Health Organization (2018). The WHO describes quality health care as being effective, safe, people-centered, timely, equitable, coordinated, and efficient. For example, as the healthcare administrator, how (what action will you take) to know if the health care provided in your organization is effective.
In your Proposal Paper, be sure to include an
introductory section that continues your discussion from the summary section in your Week 1 research paper where you discussed the development of the Donabedian Quality Framework and its use in healthcare quality management. Be sure to review any feedback provided by your professor on this summary section.
The
body of your Proposal Paper will contain your in-depth discussion of each of the seven principles of quality health care and their contribution to patient outcomes. You will also include your rationale to support each of your action plans for the seven principles of quality health care.
Your paper will include a
summary section on how the organization's structure and the processes effects healthcare outcomes through the management of quality action plans.
In addition to your narrative, you will create a table that contains a synopsis of your action plans and rationale. Your table will be an
appendix to your Proposal Paper and the columns in the table will include the Principles of Quality Health Care, the Action Plans, and your Rational to support your action plans. Your synopsis may be presented using bullet points. Be sure to follow APA standards for the use of appendices.
