Purpose

This assignment will focus on developing a health policy analysis presentation that includes a problem statement, background, landscape, options, and recommendations from the week’s readings. The health policy analysis presentation is based on an identified healthcare issue in one’s local community. 

As Family Nurse Practitioner:

1. Research healthcare issues that have been identified in your local community. Develop a PowerPoint presentation with speaker notes. You will then use the PowerPoint during your Kaltura recording. Structure a health policy analysis presentation that addresses the following topics particular to your health problem:

· Problem Statement 

· Background 

· Landscape 

· Options 

· Recommendations

2. Next, record your Kaltura presentation showing your PowerPoint and yourself speaking. Upload your Kaltura presentation into the week 4 assignment. How to use Kaltura resources are in Home/Resources/Technology Resources.

3. Posting your recording:

· Go to the week four assignment tab and hit Submit Assignment

· Use the Text Entry Tab. You will have the option of selecting the Kaltura icon.

· It will take you to your My Media Gallery and upload it from there.

Jax is a 66-year-old Caucasian female whose wife has encouraged her to seek treatment. She has never been in therapy before, and has no history of depression or anxiety. However, her alcohol use has recently been getting in the way of her marriage, and interfering with her newly-retired life. She describes drinking increasing amounts over the last year, currently consuming approximately a six-pack of beer per day. She notes that this amount “doesn’t give me the same buzz as it used to.” She denies ever experiencing “the shakes” or any other withdrawal symptoms if she skips a day of drinking.

Jax comments that her wife is her biggest motivation to decrease her alcohol use. She tells Jax that she gets argumentative and irritable when she drinks, though she does not always remember these incidents. She has also fallen while intoxicated twice, causing bruises both times and hitting her head on one of the occasions.

Questions:

Remember to answer these questions from your textbooks and NP guidelines. At all times, explain your answers. 

  1. Describe the presenting problems/issues. Is there any information that was not provided that you would need to formulate a diagnosis?
  2. Generate a primary and differential diagnosis using the DSM5 and ICD 10 codes.
  3. What physiological and psychological processes lead to substance dependence?

Then, view the Sources of Communication Apprehension presentation (adapted from Engleberg & Wynn, 2015). In light of the TEDTalk, the presentation, and your own experiences respond to the following questions:

  • What strikes you as most interesting about Ms. Washington’s talk?
  • Do you relate in any way to her talk or to the Sources of Communication Apprehension presentation?
  • If you had to pick one or two sources of communication apprehension that you feel relate to you, which ones would they be and how do you manage them?

Be sure to respond to your peers as well. As a note, aim for full credit and connect to a scholarly source beyond the TED Talk to show how the discussion ties to your studies in the course.
