Nutrition in Healthcare

Discussion 1

Every day, people make choices that affect their physical health and wellness. Some choices are influenced by the environment and social factors, which in turn contribute to people’s health outcomes. Healthcare professionals (i.e., physicians, nurses, dietitians, sports medicine, etc.) are responsible for their own health by making decisions and practicing behaviors that enhance their wellbeing. Healthcare professionals also have a responsibility to their clients. While responsibilities may vary among healthcare professionals, it is important the healthcare team is alert to clients’ nutrition problems and needs.

Discussion 2

Carbohydrates have received a bad reputation, especially when it comes to their role in weight gain. All carbohydrates are not bad and the primary role of carbohydrates in the body is to supply the cells with glucose for energy. One type of carbohydrate is sugar. Some people are unaware that instead of avoiding all sugars, they can choose to include natural sugars found in vegetables, whole grains, legumes, and fruit. On the other hand, most people know that too much fat poses health risks, but may be surprised to learn that too little does, too.

The body manages its energy supply with amazing precision. Consider that many people maintain their weight within about a 10- to 20-pound range throughout their lives. How do they do this? How does the body manage excess energy? How do bones, muscle, fat, fluid, and other tissue influence our body composition? However, overweight, and underweight both result in energy imbalance. Almost 42% of adults aged 20 and above are overweight placing them at risk of developing chronic diseases that affect quality of life.

INVESTIGATING A CRITICAL PRACTICE QUESTION THROUGH A LITERATURE REVIEW

customer service IP2

Transportation

This major airline had a rocky road at its start. Incorporated in 1967, it never actually started flying planes until June of 1971 because of lengthy legal challenges by other major airlines. When it finally started services between Dallas and Houston and Dallas and San Antonio, it used three Boeing 737 aircraft and offered $20 one-way fares. Soon, the company introduced a $10 “night fare” and several other attractive schemes. In 1973, it ended the year with its first profits since starting operations and began developing a loyal customer base.

By the 1990s, this airline had become well-established as a major passenger carrier with popular campaigns that focused on families such as the “Family Fare.” By 2000, the company had moved up to number two on this famous list and had expanded its rewards program for customers. Beyond that, as the decade progressed and moved into the second decade of this century, this airline instituted a number of other discount flight initiatives that encouraged air travel and expanded its customer reach.

Nursing module 4 assignment

What steps do you take to locate primary and peer-reviewed research articles when performing a literature search?

What resources are available to you to engage in a meaningful and successful literature search?

As you have explored throughout this course, Walden University provides vast resources for student support to ensure success in their academic program of study. When it comes to research and using Library resources, several support mechanisms are available to you as well.

Taking the first step to think about a research topic or area of interest and filtering that topic using a series of keywords and operations will be a fundamental component for performing a literature search in Walden Library’s databases. While the ultimate goal is to produce a set or results that match your search criteria, you must keep in mind that that the quality of the research articles obtained will likely vary. Thus, you must critically examine and analyze the aims of the research produced and how it aligns, confirms, or negates your topic or area of research. As you develop proficiency in this area, you will discover that you can extract content themes and frameworks to enhance future research and the need to identify additional research support.

For this Assignment, consult the Walden Library webinars and resources provided. These resources serve as a general good first step for performing literature searches and engaging with the databases of research available to you. Preparing the Discussion

Discuss your state NP community in terms of scope of practice. Include your state’s scope of practice for NPs, including:
Florida

1.

· Level of independence of practice
**In California, NPs are required to practice under Standardized Procedure Guidelines. If CA is your intended practice state, please provide details on how Standardized Procedures Guidelines are developed in California and an example of a California SPG.

· Prescribing authority

· Any limitations of practice

· Process for obtaining licensure in your state

· Certification and education requirements for licensure.

2. If you live in a restricted or reduced practice state, how has patient care been impacted in your local community by these barriers? For instance, is the ED used for primary care?  Are the EDs overcrowded with long wait times?  Are there urgent care clinics readily available? Is there adequate access to primary care?  If you live in a full practice, how has an independent practice of the APN resulted in improved patient access to healthcare?

3. How does access to NPs impact any healthcare disparities?

4. A scholarly resource must be used for EACH discussion question each week.
